I was out on the Hoh yesterday and man, what a nuthouse. The flotilla from Minnies (boy has that lanuch gotten a lot worse) to Oxbow was like salmon season or something. Nuts. wink

We ended up going one for three with the only fish to the boat a nice bright hen within sight of the takeout.

Thanks for your input & time Bruce. I know traffic is heavier now down there. Just wondered if anything stupid has happened. Upside down boats, flat tires, fights. Nutso stuff like that. One is better than none. Gonna have to make that trip again soon.
Good Luck.

I'm thinking of heading out west this weekend, (I live in Sequim, so it's not too far) any suggestions for the bank fisherman hoping to hook some fish?

Please email me if you don't want to post.

Hey Bruce, I thought I saw you this weekend. You were driving a little pickup weren't you? I was gonna say hi, but you were driving through the launch/takeout at the oxbow and were gone before I could say anything. I had on a black fleece pullover with bootfoot Cabela's waders. I might have had on my Filson rainjacket, not sure. Was riding my trusty moped so had to bundle up for the ride back. I had the big cataraft if you went down to the takeout. I only saw you for a second, so didn't know where you had come from. I was camped at first spot next to put in (talk about early wakeup calls, there were guys putting in at 5am). I'd hate to have been on the lower end fighting that mob.

I'll agree, it was a madhouse on the Hoh. I couldn't believe the amount of people floating the lower stretch. Actually, there were alot of guys doing the Morgan's to Minnie float. I always float from Morgans to Oxbow. Seemed like those guys wanted to avoid the Oxbow and the rockgarden I guess.

That was me in the Toyota with the topper. Sorry if Bob D's diesel woke you up when we were dropping my rig in the morning. Were you fishing with a woman and breaking down your cat at the oxbow takout later in the afternoon? Actually, it seemed like that was a different cat than the one I saw at the campsite.

Anyway, glad you also managed to enjoy a nice day among the crowds. By the way, how'd you do with the fish?

Well, that was the same boat alright. Actually, I was on the upper road near the put in when I saw you in the afternoon. That was my buddy and my girlfriend tearing down my cataraft. I was getting ready to take my moped to pickup my drop vehicle.

Had a good weekend. Had a couple on, but couldn't get them to the shore. One went screaming on me near Minnie.

Ahhhh, that was Bob's diesel that woke my butt up. Sheesh, try to get a little sleep and you guides think you own the road. rolleyes :p Actually, I was awake, just keeping warm in the sleeping bag. Hell if I was going to get out of a nice warm bag to make breakfast for the crew. laugh I figured I'd be on the oars all day so I deserved a little extra rest.

Well, I'm sure I'll run into you again.
