WA State game warden fired for hunting misbehavior
Outdoor briefs: Lisi killed Montana antelope but left carcass in field

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has fired one of its game
wardens, Kirke P. Lisi of Bothell, for killing a pronghorn antelope in
Montana last fall and failing to tag it and remove it from the field.

The department demoted Lisi's hunting partner, Brooks Carmichael, also a
Washington game warden.

The agency said it had terminated Lisi, a 12-year veteran of the
enforcement division, effective April 19 "for misconduct and violation of
agency
rules and regulations." The action came following a lengthy internal
investigation.

Lisi had been cited in Montana last October by Montana wildlife officials on
a misdemeanor charge of wasting or abandoning an antelope buck.
He forfeited bond of $520 in Hysham, about 70 miles east of Billings, in
Montana's Treasure County.

Carmichael, who serves with the agency's marine detachment in Olympia,
was not cited. However, the Washington agency said Carmichael, a
29-year veteran of the department, will be demoted effective April 19 from
Officer 3 to Officer 2 "because of his role in the game violation
incident and for violating agency rules and regulations."

The department said such reduction in rank would cost Carmichael about
$350 per month in pay, and also could affect his retirement benefits.

It is nice to see that the department is doing something right for a change. I have heard of several incidents with wardens hunting out of season to try and make a bust on other illegal hunters. Makes you wonder about their ethics.

I am glad to see there are other duck hunters on this sight. Just moved to the Vancouver area and am looking for places to hunt waterfowl down here. Any info would be helpful.
