Loc: A coastal river with fish
Fished the wind today, only to find out there was 50 to 75 nets fromthe bridge of the gods to just outside of the boundry at the wind, I was told by a few guys that wed at drano the nets took about 10,000 fish,They really made the wind real slow, and there going to be out there for a while, according to the checker, I think this is a bunch of crap, just when the river is on the up swing. What I would like to know is how long are they going to be there. The fisheries wants to get this fish count up every year. If they keep this up it will be back to where it was a few years ago, CRAP, I feel the nets have no business up there, what do you think. confused

I agree. I drove I84 today and they were solid from Arlington down to about John Day before they thinned out. A few all the way to The Dalles. They were selling them at Celilo State Park for $2.00/lb.

Wow, it seems as though the more I piss and moan about nets, the more nets go in the river. If didn't know any better I'd swear to God that the Fisheries Dept. wasreaing our posts, and for every time one of us complained about a net the Fisheries would allow onemore net to go in. We ***** and we ***** and we *****, and the netting gets worse and worse and worse. Just my .02.

I don't remember hearing about that many indian nets between the dam and the Wind and Drano. The nets have to be allowed so why can't they at least net above the sportfishing areas more so they don't wipe out our fishing! they will still get their fish up a little higher in the river. mad I mentioned that I don't mind commercials getting a few netted fish too but I feel the same about them. Keep them above us sports guys and we won't hurt their take but they sure will hurt ours. confused

Does anyone know the schedule of the nets or a website that can give out that kind of information. I noticed net in the river on monday along highway 14 all the way to Lyle, and on monday and wednesday not a single fish was touched on the Klickitat. this fishery should be getting better not worse. the must be really hammering with those nets.

Here is a couple web sites that give information on the net seasons. Sounds like they have wiped out Drano and Wind for the weekend. http://www.wa.gov/wdfw/fish/crc/crc13apr01.pdf http://www.wa.gov/wdfw/fish/crc/crcindex.htm

Wow! I've been fishing the Wind every weekend since it opened and my boat has only averaged 1 fish per weekend...We should be killing them now with the numbers as high as they are. Any info as to how the fishing has been the last few days... confused

The report I got from Wednesday was that it was slow. A friend of mine was blanked. It makes sense if you consider how they netted it over the week. What really sucks is that I heard the tribes are netting in Drano, which also impacts the Wind River. From what I have been told, the low water has meant the Wind fish have went passed the Wind river up to Drano, then turn around and head back to the Wind. But the nets are now raping Drano to. Its not good enough they have the whole river to net. They need to have access to the few sports anglers holes as well.
