Bob,was wondering what is going on down south on the Kasilof.Caught part of a news cast on the raido that said that the owner of a take out point on the Kasilof is going to stop all the guides from useing his facacilities.Just wondering if I heard right?

KF, Bob put up a post a while ago that did indicate the situation you mentioned above. But he and other guides have made arrangements with other property owners to allow boat takeouts.

Yep, some changes. The Old Kasilof Landing take-out has been closed to everyone except those who they have given keys to. Primarily these were people that used him exclusively for processing. Or so the word went initially. Now, there have been reports of keys given to those who promise to advertise the processing in return.

I was one of those who did not receive a key as I leave it up to my clients as to where they have their fish processed depending upon where they stay and exactly what they would liek to have done. Frankly, I didn't use him alot as the cost was excessive: they charge $1.25 pound on incoming weight of the fish, places I used usually ran about $1.25 OUTGOING weight ... a substantial difference.

Make sure to thank Ed's kasilof Seafoods by not using them for any processing nor buying any product from them.

Working with a landowner downstream, I was able to procure another takeout spot and it will be open to others on a permission and pay basis and will be tightly regulated for courteous use as to not disrupt the lives of those living near it (no 30 mph down the gravel roads into it).

While we don't have all the work complete, we're close, and it'll actually open up a little more river to us, especially later in the season which will be nice.

I've attached some pix below of the boat chute that was installed to bring the boats over the existinbg bulkhead and the walkway we've put in the last few days:

Looking at this take-out, it surely has to be labor of love. I imagine we should hear the rest of the story! I admire your priciples and hard work. I can only imagine what Kasilof Seafood is thinking when they find out they are not the only game in town. mad

Best of luck to you and Fishgal in your adventure! smile
