GREAT!!! A board I can get addicted to. New to the board here friends. First of all let me explain the nickname SNAGMAGNET.... I'm a sport fishermen and I obey all the rules and regs. set forth by the goverment agency's. I would never snag a fish on purpose.... If I should get an illegal hook the fish is returned unharmed... I recieved the nickname from a fishing trip on Lake Drano 4 years ago. Lost well over $50 in plugs and a downrigger weight. If there was a hang up present I hooked it... Hence the name and has stuck with me ever since. I fish the eastern most part of the NW region including the Snake,Clearwater,Salmon, and Little Salmon. I have been known to pack up the truck and head below the dams that are holding back the Salmon and Steelies from making it closer to me. Please don't make me yell blow the DAMS..... laugh

Welcome aboard SM. I really love some of the areas you likely fish; Clearwater and Salmon Rivers - beautiful. I haven't made it up to McCall yet, but I will eventually. The pics I've seen of the ponderosa pine forests around the Payette River on the way up there are enticing for sure! The lake didn't look too shabby either. Other than the Snake system salmon & steelhead fishing, what is the trout fishing like in the Payette near you, and the Selway off the upper Clearwater these days? It used to be great back when I drove back and forth to my roots in Missoula, Montana many years ago. Also, do they still have the steelhead recycling program in the Boise River? ... (Bet you didn't expect a bunch of Q's in reply to your first post, eh? wink

Thanks for the welcome friends! RT, I've fished the Payette (lake) once. There's the great Mackinaw hiding in there. As far as the River and the Selway, I don't fish them unless the Steelies are in there. I'm kinda partial to the huge fish. The Boise Steelhead stocking program works great. They planted a couple thousand in there last year and it made for a great two weeks of fishing. They are talking about stocking Salmon in there this year since the spring run is the best we have seen in 70 years here in Idaho. See the Riggins post.
