It' been a few years since I've fished down there, but it used to be that the Lyle point area of Anderson island was pretty decent for blackmouth and some resident silvers around Memorial day. There is a public launch at the mouth of McCallister creek, although I forget the name of the road to get there (Meridian maybe?) Check your tidebook because if there is a really low tide, it will be all mud, and you won't be able to get out with a boat of any size. Jigging off of the point with point wilson darts etc. used to be pretty productive, as did mooching herring. I believe that the last 2 or 3 hours of the incoming tide, through the change and a couple of hours afterward were the most productive. Look for 90 to 120ft. of depth, and start fishing. Good luck, Mark

I fish Area 13 several times every year. A couple of suggestions: Launch your boat at Narrows Marina in Tacoma unless it's a car topper. You can get your bait there too of course. Is a good launch ($10 honor box) & only 10-20 minute run, depending on where you fish. Fishin' holes this time of year: Lyle Point or Pt Gibson. Lyle Point is where I usually go, seldom crowded even in summer. Best time is fish just inside the rip (N. side of pt.) during outgoing tide. Mooch it w/herring or jig it. If you have downriggers, troll from rip line parellel to shore for 1/4 mile N. in 80-120 feet of water. Killer spot this side during tide change for blackmouth or later on for big kings headed for Deschutes & Nisq river. If you get ther first hour of ligth, you will normally see lots of bait in tight to shore, move in closer with them, then move out to the deeper water mentioned above later on. If an in-tide, move around to other side of point (south side). In tide is mostly a troll fishery my opinion. Bottom structure pretty easy to read except just off buoy at point where shelfs up real quick. During out tide Troll right up edge of that shelf then follow it out directly away from the point. Would have been there Saturday but my truck broke down today, so can't tow the boat until transmission fixed. If nothing happening there, stop at Pt. Gibson on way back. Narrows Marina people real helpful with info too. Let me know how you do. ps: Narrows Marina ramp is VERY steep, use extra caution when setting E-brakes to launch your boat.
