I'm wondering if anybody in this post fishes for squawfish(im sorry) Northern Pikeminnow?
Has anybody made much money doing it? I have gone out quite a bit the past couple years but I don't do that well. I only get one or two a trip. I use chicken liver and from what I hear that is the bait of choice.
I like to try new spots for them and was wondering if anybody knew of any spots anywhere on the Columbia West of the Dalles Dam? I fish off the bank.....I am just interested if anybody else is as interested as me in making an extra buck or two doing what you love to do....fishing. Any techniques....spots...bait...anything would help. Thanks in advance!

Actually, from what I've seen, worms are the number one bait of choice and chicken liver is second. I watched a couple kids just slaugter 'em on worms last summer on the Columbia.

Chicken Liver is a good bait. Target the end of islands or eddy areas. I have seen fishermen do well, casting a rubber "sassy shad" minnow imitation below the dams. This lure acts like a disoriented minnow when worked well and the squawfish sit below the dams waiting for just that. Saw a guy one day catch 6 big squawfish in no time doing this. Also casting spinners is a good method. Blue fox size 3 or 4. Good thing about the last method is it works for so many species: Bass, walleye, steelhead, salmon and the squawfish, so if the squaws aren't biting, maybe something else will. Though I had a guy who swore he caught several salmon on chicken liver smile

what i use for sqaws is, night crawlers, and you may want to use a syringe and pump them with a lil bit of air so they float a bit, and ive also caught them on panther martin spinners, i once had one take my rod and reel 2 feet into the river, i had walked away for a few and shoo, i could see it down in the water, reeled it in and had a 17-18 inch sqaw on it, and if you ever want to go fishing for them, jus write me a email and i will take a trip to the columbia sumtime, if your serious, i have been wanting to try it for sumtime, i used to love catching and killing them things, and another thing i have caught them on is a brown kalins grub, and have seen them caught on crank baits as well **berkley boy**
