Nets will be on the mouth of the Duwamish from 8pm last night until 8am this morning. It is a directed fishery by the Suquamish Tribe, and consists of 5-10 gillnets and 20-40 skiffs in the river.

There will be another opening next Wednesday, Aug 15 from 8pm that night to 8am the next morning. Same effort will be applied then.

A recreational fishery in the same place will begin at 12:01am Friday and last until 11:59 pm Sunday beginning August 10. That same time period was also open last weekend, beginning at 12:01 am on the third.

The Suquamish U&A (usual and accustomed area as defined by the Boldt decision) extends from the Canadian boarder, down to the narrows bridge, so it includes Elliot Bay. True, Muckleshoot does take part in Elliot Bay and other Seattle area fisheries, but the nets seen on the Duwamish last night and early this morning were most likely Suquamish.

I saw an advertisement in the Seattle PI yesterday for net caught kings at $2.00 lb by the Muckleshoots... frown
