In all due respect, but what can you expect when you fish at a place that has turned into a "white trash" fishery. I used to fish the lower Samish for the fall kings in the early 90's and things were civil and law abiding back then. Just like every other fishery that gets popular out comes the bad elements amongst us.

One of the most disgusting things that happens every year are the group of snaggers that congregate out at nearby Fish Pt. These plaid flannel wearing, zz-top beard growing, cigarette black toothed a$$ holes, get together every season out there and just snag away. They put huge trebles on small darts and just jig for fish backs, bellies, and but holes. They snag one in the rear, bring it in and then bonk it up on the beach. Then they brag to all there buddies how they've snagged 8 so far that week. I snagged a nice chrome king in the back one year and unbuttoned it at shore. Then one of these guys walked up to me and asked "Why did you let that fish go?", so then I had to explain to him that it was illegal to keep a snagged salmon in the State of Washington. Then his reply was "well most of the fish we catch out here are snagged so you just better leave!" I called WDFW that night and left a complaint, don't know if they ever sent a warden out there.

I just choose to stay away from the Samish, the mud stinks anyway!
