We finally picked a few chinook hens (previous trips had produced all bucks)in Puget Sound area 11 last weekend. I want to get into steelheading this winter so needed to "field cure" the eggs. What I did was throw the fresh eggs into a zip-lock bag and mix in the powdered cure - then into the ice chest. Next day, add more eggs, add more powder - mix it up. Then put them in the freezer when I get home. Is this an O.K. way to process the eggs or should I be doing something different? I have always been a saltwater guy and all the 20+ years worth of salmon eggs I had previously extracted became gull food. cool

Where are you fishing in area 11 if you don't mind my asking? I have over 30 fish in my boat between me and people I have taken from Southworth and Dolphin Point this year and have yet to catch a single hen. 5 of these fish have been over twenty pounds.

Since you mention the spot, I will tell you it was Dolphin. We got all bucks, too, til last weekend. It seemed kinda wierd to catch that many fish over several weeks and have 100% males. Last weekend's hens were 10# fish with 3# of eggs inside cool

I got a 22 and a 14 last weekend at Southworth and they were both bucks. Run should be petering out soon and I haven't got any eggs yet.

Jason, that has got to be a sweet deal for you living in Port Orchard - you are practically fishing in your backyard. We were using green glo hot spot & squid or coyote down 50'. We probably caught 30+- kings in July & August but never did break the 20# barrier - our biggiest was 17# (although I did see some big ones caught) cool
