Ok guys I am going to pull divers this weekend but I am not sure what sze of a plug to use as a diver, or if I should just get a jet diver #20. I am going to be fishing the Sky from Sultan to Lewis street. I know to paint them flat black, but I am very curious of the size you use and what kind.
Thanks, guys
Travis

Most of my sucessful days (what few there have been) were with a #30 hot shot-no rattle. Have caught a few on the larger 35 with the noise maker, but with the clear water, I think the smaller quiet plug is more effective. And I agree with you on the dark colored plugs. I'm headed over to the west side of the OP this weekend to avoid the masses and all of the confrontations. That combat fishing does not agree with me at ALL. If anyone else is headed over there and wants to hook up (pun intended) let me know. I'm leaning towards fishing the Hoh, although the Queets jumped way up in flow, and may be hot come Saturday. Don't know about the duc, the radar showed lots of rain, if it is right, it could be incredible. I have never drifted that one. Anyone have any input on it so you don't read about a dead fishin' fool come Monday? eek

About the Duc, I'm not sure how many board its at but I dont think it would be smart to float it blind. You may be great on the sticks but a wrong judgement or a missed stroke could lead to a lot of lost gear. I'm not saying you cant, I did the hatchery run blind on the first float but I also now know to go right instead of left on one of the splits. Once you learn it well its just a matter of not being too lazy. Oh and a few "cans of courage" always help me to get in the groove. Aka BEER

I've only floated that Duc hatchery on down once, I remember that one part, go right under the trees, the left looks good until you get to the four foot + drop with the rocks in the middle... I'd go with someone that knows the first time.

a half ounce HotnTot will cover most of the holes from the Sultan to Lewis st drift.I always carry some Magnum HotnTots for some of the deeper holes. With the flow as low as it is the bigger diver will probably be the ticket. The jets divers will work but you will get alot better action out of the Hotntots. You are right on about painting them black also.Good luck fishing. smile
