What was that saying BK? If it ain't chrome, it ain't commin' home?

4 came home. wink One pig around 14 pounds. So chrome, it was a two-toner. Naturally, since we were exploring for chummers, I didn't bring the digital camera. Oh well.

nothing today as well.
tried it around Monroe and Sultan from 8 till 12.
water very clear and fast - could see almost all the river to the bottom on the second Sultan bridge.
Have not seen a damn fish jumping and floating laugh
Tried hardware from bank - not a single bite.
laugh laugh
anybody aware where they are hiding?

confused
when are the chums coming - ?
how long would they be bright and till what place?
(say, after Monroe they are x% dark and after Sultan - y%).

Saw a few small but still bright silvers taken at the mouth of tha Wallace today. It was not what you could call "Hot" but there were some. I can tell you one thing, it sure stinks with all the dead fish everywhere! eek

I've been fishing a 1/4 mile stretch that is packed with silvers (and little to no pressure). Fishes great during high or low water. Sat morning I landed 2 back to back - one being very bright.
Earlier in the week I found a single pool (in the same 1/4 mile stretch as noted above) where I hooked 10 fish and lost them all. Too many snags! But I had fun anyway.
Once the dogs show up, they'll be packing in this strecth of water too.
One fish I hooked took me to the end of my backing in my 8wt fly rod and then broke my 12lb tippet. Yikes! (:

Some techniques/lures that worked for me:
* Vibrax spinners (solid brass #3 was the favorite). Worked best rigged up at if drift fishing - letting the lead tick on the rocks and retreiving just fast enough to avoid hanging up.
* Jigs (Beau Mac marabou, Ultra Jigs, various Silent Approach jigs) - colors: hot pink, cerise, red, black, orange, and combos of those listed. Worked best in the deep pools fished without a float and retrieved as if bass fishing. They like the rising and falling action. Just don't lift the rod tip too fast or you'll wind up snagging them.
* Fly fishing - Marabous, boss, popcicle (same colors as those noted for jigs). In fast water, try dead drifting or swinging. In slow water, try a weighted fly/floating line combo. Cast out, wait several seconds, strip 6 to 12 inches, wait several seconds, etc. Again, the rising and falling action gets them.

Anyway, this was my first year fising for silvers and I learned a lot. Thanks to those who have shared their tips on this board!

-Chad

laugh smile I'll give it 1 1/2 smiles today. Too much crap floating down the river, its slowing the bite down. Leaves, sticks, and more leaves! mad

Sunday sucked compared to Saturday. Still found some fish but nothing bright. The river was a complete fricken zoo with boats in every hole and bankies everywhere. It's starting to look like the Cowlitz down there on the lower river. eek
