Impressive "First Cast" Chinook jig fishing show last night. RT's egg curing segment should have helped a lot of people.

I see Stewy can fall down on the bank as good as RT! Nice fish. RT wastes no time gathering "his" eggs does he? LOL.

Thanks Rick (Nanook). It was a fun show to do. I never would have thought baitless feathered 1/4 oz. steelie jigs would take big chrome chinooks so effectively, until last year when we started catching them in the low clear water of the fall drought. Since then Mark has been tying up jigs with 3/0 and 4/0 Owner hooks for specifically targeting big chinooks. Then this cable TV show taping was on the Wilson R. at only a 2.7 ft. level and gin clear. Shane's and Scott's fish were shown, but Mark's 36 lb. bright buck and my steelhead got cut in order to show the egg curing segment. But we had done a March steelhead nate jig fishing C&R show on the same river and got double figures of fish to show, with some taking the bobber down on camera. Fun. ... 'Fly will attest that OP Kings will also take pink worms on jigheads too, so like feathered jigs they aren't just for steelies and 'hos.

This outdoor cable TV show is much like NW Washington's 'Fishermen's Heaven' in that it is shown mostly on cable networks around the Portland metro area and some other smaller markets - and are trying to expand also. I think you can watch episodes of the Hot Tomale Outdoor Show on your computer screen by accessing their website at www.hottamaleoutdoorshow.com There are many shows with NW fishing guides that are fun to watch and informative. Thanks for your efforts Scott and Mark.

BTW, Rick is one of the top Tillamook tidewater egg and shrimp fishing experts. Even with less current we should try the jigs down there too.

It was a fun show to do. I was amazed that that chinook took that cherise jig of mine after passing up shrimp tails...go figure. My line was completely out of the water so with no slack along with the 10' TH rod I was using it easy to bury the hook in that fish. I'm sold on the braided line for my Stradic spinning reel. As far as where we were.....well that reminds me of something famous NW Steelheader Bill Luch said when someone asked him to reveal where he catches his fish. "How to? Anytime...Where to? Never"

Thanks for the post Rick. As far as Stew falling down. Actually it was a controlled sliding maneuver to position himself for landing the fish...right Stew? And yes RT is a self admitted egg nut. We let him cure the berries and in return we field test his concoction. I like the results so far.

Mark
