Hi,
The allstar makes the 1263 which is 6 to 12 lb line rating and they make the 1265 which is 10 to 20 lb line rating. I have several of both of these rods and I love the 1263 for straight steelhead fishing and the 1265 will land anything you want to hook here in the northwest.
My friends refer to it as the Harvest stick, I named it that last year while fishing the heavy water for spring chinook because when ever I felt like getting them in I could just reel down on em and land them at will. The allstars are lifetime warranty.
I do believe that TH is building some of there rods on allstars now, not sure so don't be afraid to ask
Peace Superfly.

Thanks for the info Joe.
I thought that you only made a 6-10lb and the 10-20. as of right now I dont use a float rod that much for salmon I usually drift fish but for steelies I usually always use floats.
How much would one of those 6-12lb cost?

Thanks,

Catcher1, remember, you get what you pay for. I'm guessing the Allstar rod might cost you around $90-$100. If you can afford the extra $70 for the custom rod, get it... that's a great deal for a custom rod with good components and a great blank. You can get it with the color thread and reel seat you want, that's why it's a custom. I'm sure TH probably gets his components from Rainshadow, they carry quality stuff.

My friend bought an Allstar 1025, he's only had it a couple of months, and the cork is starting to degrade... IMHO, the Allstar completes are built with a lesser grade cork and guides to get their cost down (not to mention cheaper labor in Texas)

On another note, I believe the Rainshadow blanks are built by Allstar, but to Rainshadow specs (tapers) so blank vs. blank, unless the epoxy/graphite recipe is different, they are probably pretty close.

I fish the AllStar 1262 and it is a decent rod. Great summer rod as well as a good rod for brats but it is a tad light for Nates and bigger rivers.

The AllStar blanks are an excellent blank for the price, they are light and about as sensative as a GL2 but I have noticed problems with their compents. I've seen little fished rods come back because the handles spin and I had the ceramic in my tiptop pop out after just a few months of use. Plus you can just tell when you pick up the rod and feel the cork that it is soft and cheap. Plus I have seen rods come in where guides are totally missaligned.

You do not see that sort of thing with lightly fished Loomises...although Loomis componets have gone downhill since the Shimano buyout. Anyone notice the new reel seats on the GL3's. They are those crappy grey ones...atleast they are still a through the handle handle. rolleyes

Shimano should publish a book called How To Turn the Best of the Best into Mediocority

Gloss finishes??? What a ****ing joke!! Grrr...it is kinda sad to tell you the truth.

Dont get me wrong though, when it comes to gear rods and certain bugrods, it is pretty much all I fish. Because they are still the best, just not as good as they once were.

Anyways...

I really like the rainshadow rods by TH custom rods, I have 3 of them, I have a 10ft float rod and it has good strenght to it, its rated at 8 to 12, and have been landing kboys to 35 lbs, with a little finess, I also have a 9ft and an 8.5 columbia killer, If you can afford a TH rod you ll be very happy, Travis you didnt here what Ive caught on that rod, just kiddn :p :p
