Hi all:

As a new but hopelessly addicted steelhead fisherman, I'm looking for best reading on the subject. I've had my subscription to STS for a while, but am looking for more direct info on steelhead. Stuff like:

* Steelhead biology
* Steelhead habits
* Fishing techniques explained
* Run timing (how to determine)

I'd appreciate any help anyone wants to offer to help me get better at finding them.

BTW, I want to publicly thank some of the guys on this board for previous posts re: CNR on nates. I'll admit I'm a transplant to the area, and until reading about the importance of CNR on nates, I thought nothing of bonking the few I caught. Having released the last few nates, I now understand the feeling of accomplishment that brings as well. No more need for me to kill nates

The best books on techniques are probably
1: Drift fishing for steelhead by Bill Herzog
2: Float fishing for steelhead by Dave Vedder
3: Jig fishing for steelhead by Dave Vedder
4: The lastest catch record for steelhead for Washington and Oregon rivers. I know it's published by Amato books but I'm not sure who wrote it. Look in your STS magazines in the book section and you find it in there.

If you want all those in one, pick up The Steelhead Trout by Trey Combs.
