I would like to try the skykomish this weekend but I've never fished there. I was wondering if any one can tell me the location a few main holes with decent bank access. This is my first season targeting rivers. I'll be fishing for chums or steelhead, and a tip or two would be very helpfull. Also I would like to avoid the holes full of rude people I've seen posted about recently.

For the start try Ben Howard road and you will learn as time goes on. This is a back road between Monroe and Sultan. Ben Howard road is connected to Hwy 2 via two bridges (Hwy 203 bridge and Mann road bridge) under which there is also good bank access. Under the Mann road bridge near Sultan there is parking lot which takes you to the river with good bank access. Just follow the trail. There are several good bank access along the Ben Howard road as well. You may see parked cars in most places that I have mentioned but you will find elbow room. Most car owners that I have meet were not rude but who knows you may get lucky.

Forgot about lures.
I was drift fishing with green yarn today and was able to talk a few chums into striking. One was very rude and soaked me by the time I released it. Another guy was using red yarn and corkie and seemed to be doing ok as well. Good luck.

Hello everyone, just found the site, looks like a good group!!!

A.B. There is a small tackle shop on the main street though Monroe, down by the highway, next to a pawn shop and a car wash(can't remember the name).Anyways they have free maps of the river showing some of the more popular holes. It's a good way to start out learning the river!!!Hope that helps you!---------- Fish

Thanks for the help guys. I'll be there this weekend if there's not a storm.
