Folks, the following is a set of pics and a fishing tale from a trip that some friends and I went on this past summer in Alaska. Still a work in progress, but I think you might like some of the pics.

see http://www.oz.net/~andrewb/home2001.htm

Some of the jpegs are a bit large, so it can be slow loading on some of the pages. And yes, those rainbows _are_ fatter that the hatchery brats we've been yanking in lately.

Nice piece S'ilton. For at least several trips I would rather flyfish trophy bows like those in remote scenery than bait catch 30 lb. chinooks in OR/WA. Great trip!

It would be good if you have time to tell us how to use a link to multiple fish/scenery pics like that, so members could click on the link to see them; which would save server space on this website - I think. smile A couple reduced size fish pics in a post are cool.

Nice work Silver Hilton! I enjoyed the pictures and stories. Thanks for putting it together and sharing the trip with us. Felt like I was there is a technoid sort of way.

Awesome site! I really enjoyed the pics and the stories. It has always been a dream of mine to head to Alaska to do some fishing. Now I have more to dream about!

Looks like you hit the one good week of weather in the region! Heard there was some high water problems in areas adjacent to the Kusokwim this year. Awsome pics and story. There's a group of us who are planning on an Alagnak float this coming summer, but have some misgivings about the crowds. We've been looking at alternatives on semi-mellow rivers. Thanks for posting!!

Gutz,

The prim and proper name of the fly is the coneheaded, rubber legged, egg defecating leech. You figure out what we called it. smile

Chucknduck,

I have floated the Alagnak as well, let me know if I can be of assistance in your planning. It wasn't that crowded - while you'll see people, it is going to be like a deserted day compared to what you're used to. Most of the lodge crowds are lower in the river than the common floats.
