I broke the last 3 inches off my 10.5 foot Lamiglas Cert. Pro setting the hook. Didn't see the tree above me. I took it to a local dealer, who replaced the tip. He said to try the rod (3 inches shorter now), but that I might need to cut it back to the next guide, which is another 3 inches so that it'll load properly. I've used it twice since and haven't really noticed a problem. Anybody know how guide placement affects rod loading?

You bought a 10 1/2' rod for a reason. Send it back in. Lamiglas is fairly nice to work with. Just went thur the same type of deal, broke the tip section of a 10+ year old G1306 8 1/2, wrote letter, sob story, they didn't buy it........but got a whole new replacement rod for $53.00.....Then decided that I would like to upgrade and go to a different length.....so I called them....$53.75 more and I now have a X96LS.

Very happy........

my 10.5 rod lasted about one hour. they are just way more fragile than the shorter rods. i am a rod abuser , so i just use cheap rods now. i have not been able to break a cheap rod, but have broke 4 nice lamiglass rods so far this season.

Try sending it back I have broke 3 Laminglass rod tips over the years. All three times they have replaced the tip for me free of charge, except for $10 in shipping fees.

That the nice thing about buying a high end rod ... they always seem expensive in the beginning ... but when you break one ... the investement pays off

I slammed the truck door on my Lami Esprit steelhead rod shortly after I bought it. I sent the rod back to Lamiglass and hat-in-hand, explained exactly how it broke. They kindly replaced it for free (I paid shipping). Even if they had charged me for the new tip, it was my own stupidity and I'd have just paid it. I haven't slammed the thing in the door again, and I bought more Lamiglass rods as a result of their generous customer service.

Just tell them what happened. They may replace it free, they may not. But you didn't buy an expensive rod to whack off the end did you? You may as well use a broom stick. I'd say get it fixed.

You broke a Lami, huh? No real loss! wink (JK) I started out with Lami's. I still have my original Lami that has caught many a fish. Can't bear to give her up, although it never get's used.

Send it back to Lamiglass. For $10, they'll replace it.

You could do what I did in that once you get your new rod back, sell it and get two new Allstar Elites. They come with lifetime warranties.

I've personally had much better customer service from Lami then Loomis, send it to them, they'll take care of you for little or nothing.

Thanks for all the feedback. Guess the consensus is to send it to Lamiglas. RCL, I lost the fish...the line broke at the same time as the rod. I love this rod! 10.5 feet, 6.1 ounces. It's a great float rod and can wing a #5 MorTac 130 feet. I've taken around 100 steelhead to 22 pounds with it. The 5 pounders are fun...the rod's not too heavy, and the 22 pounder was landed in just 8 minutes. Who says Lami's are whimpy? I did hook a big fall chinook that I couldn't tire a few years ago, but I can't expect a rod rated for 6-10 pound line to catch kings. Thanks again, everybody! laugh
