I'm headed over the hill this weekend and would like to take my father in law steelheading. I seek advice on streams. I'm not looking for anything too detailed or 'zipperlip', mind you, but I am devoid of any piscatorial where-to-go knowledge for over there. They live in Yakima, and so I was thinking Columbia and/or tribs, depending on regs, but it would be a total shot in the dark. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Matt

Ocus, fishing has been fair on the Columbia around Ringold hatchery. The Walla Walla, Tucannon or Touchet are 3 good small streams this time of year. Or if you want to throw a bobber out they've been catching fish all winter above McNary and Ice Harbor dams.

Good Luck!

OCUS not a lot of steelheading going on over here, but I'll give you a few ideas.Columbia river below Johnday dam ,fish Washington side just below locks.Best bets try bobber & jigs or drift fish eggs & corkies.Another try at Ringold hatchery near the Tricities on the Columbia river.Fish it same way as above.Dress warm it's cold.We need the Cow and the lewis to drop and we'll be back over there. smile

Ocus,

Decent Steelheading is at least a 2.5 hour drive this time of year. I would suggest packing along a fly rod and nymphing for very tasty large whitefish in the Yak (smoked). Also great C & R possibilities for Rainbows, Bull's, and the occasional Steely.

Send me an E-Mail if you want specific sections to fish.
