I want to put a third pole holder in the bow of my drift boat but want to keep it out of the knee knock area. Any ideas on holders and how to mount them?

I have an older eastside drifter that has wooden side rails, I made a U shaped bracket out of 1in. round stock pipe, then flattened the ends and bolted it to the in side of the rails. Then I put on a pole holder bracket so the holder can be removed when there isn't a third person or your not pulling three plugs. If your boat is glass or aluminum this will also work, you should re-enforce the mounting area with a block of wood or some type of thick glass material for support.

AuntyM, what is it about those things that makes me think of the Terminator? Looks like parts off an android!

I too, have an old Eastside. I didn't want to drill through the rails so we came up with a moveable contraption consisting of two metal plates, which are sandwiched around the rail with four wing nutted bolts. On the front plate we mounted a fish on rod holder mount. These are nice as you can move them anywhere you like.

Hope that helps.
