What are your thoughts on this. What are the predictions on impact on natives from lack of brat pressure vs. more focus from us? Cuttthroat and other hatchery produce, etc??

I sure it wont affect the presure on the wild steelies much as the river is mostly wild accept for the early snider fish and a good number of stray state fish. As far as the cutts go no rivers out here get hatchery cutt plants so that isnt anything to worry about. As far as the salmon go I think it would be good for them. Not a ton of wild coho left in the Sol Duc. Might be due to the high hatchery production. It might hurt the summer chinook as they do a wild brood program for them. And finally it will hurt the fisherman due to lost oportunity like I said the Sol Duc is almost a total hatchery run for coho and the economy of the comunity of Forks relys on the summer salmon fishery as well as the fall one that the hatchery produces.

I was told by a local hatch worker that they want to switch control over to Quilliute tribe? If I remember BOB right closing the hatch would get the nets out for the summer coho also easing preasure on the wild chinook? It is all spec right now I guess we will know more in july when the budget gets hashed out.I personaly want the hatchery to remain.

Here is a link I stole from the other good site.It prtrays some off the good thingds that are being done and gives a point of contact.
