*Good* cured eggs will do the trick every time.
If you get suckered in to sitting on anchor and pulling plugs above the 101 bridge, try Mag and regular Warts. Metallic Gold and Black worked really well the only time I've done that. I've only done this once at the end of the day, but saw 4 fish caught in about 10 minutes. The fish tend to move past the bridge in the morning and evening. Big Hogs tend to hit the big plugs.
Sand Shrimp works.
Jigs work in low/clear water.
Orange seems to be a good color choice on that river for corkies and drift bobbers.
The real key to that river is finding the fish. Dpending on the days in which the river is netted, fish will tend to be in certain areas of the river. For example, a good guide over there will know that if they don't net on a Monday, in X-days, you can expect most of those fish to be approximately Y location. Give or take.
I love to fish the Quinault knowing that I'll probably have a double digit day with an honest to goodness shot at a big Toad. It's worked once for me. Many fish yes, big fish..welll..it's fishing, and that really boils down to just timing and luck.
I'd be more worried about the weather then anything else. That's usually the most limiting factor on that river.
