I have an OMC bracket my boat with a 9.9 Merc 4 stroke on it and I usually keep it in the down position when hauling down the road. Do any of you have a preference or have thoughts on if it is better to have it up? Thanks for the input.

I have a 25hp Four-stroke Yamaha...I normally go down the road with it clicked up one notch so no matter what situation I get in, I dont hit the skeg on anything. I also strap two bunge cords around the lower unit to keep it from bouncing.

OMC's ride better down. They will sear out in the up position. And also have more leverage against the hull in the up position. Have seen metal fatigue in aluminim boats that haul with them up.
