I posted this question on web page X and got a big response. What line of work are you in? Its pretty interesting all the different professionals that are on the BB. A lot of people on this BB have much in common. Networking within this "comminity" can be benificial.
BTW: I'm a Sales Manager for a Budweiser Wholesaler in Oregon.

I am an Industrial Maintenance Technician. Jackofalltrades master of one. Unfortunatly I work in the glass industry though. I need one of those high paid, cushy Union jobs so I can afford more gear, like a driftboat.

Small Business Banker, VP. (biggest bank in the US) That means I have a cool title, but no power. Gotta be an SVP for that. I do loans and deposit products for small businesses (under 100 employees and less than $10 million in annual revenues). Thirty percent of my clients are in timber related industries. I get to do loans on cool toys like shovel loggers, feller bunchers, lot's of trucks, charter boats, etc. etc. etc. Got an industry related question? Fire away.

I work for a company that manufactures battery seperators (micropourous plastic film). "Rover" Is my job title. My job requires me to know every process in manufacturing the product and be able to do any job in the plant. Its a fairly laid back job. I can usually get most of my leaders tied up while at work

I work in television production. The company I work for produces programming for The Discovery Channel, TLC, HGTV, A&E, PBS, and a couple of syndicated series. I produce/direct a home improvement show for HGTV called "Help Around the House" mainly, but also write, shoot and edit some of the other shows we do as well.

Senior Service Supervisor is my official title, Regional Park Supervisor is my working title and Park Ranger is what most call me. April 16th will be my 29 year anniversary working in parks. The last 17 at 1,200 acre Oxbow Park on the Sandy River. I live, work and play on the Sandy. I am the person responsible for all aspects of the operation and maintenance of the park. Living on site has some disadvantages but it sure is a nice back yard.

i'm a sales engineer for company that designs and installs paint systems for manufactures. Liquid and powder coating systems for companies that build planes, truck or anything that needs a coating like fishing lures and boats. Sometimes it gets in the way of my fishing, but it helps support the habit.

The teacher summed up by saying, "Let me see . . .
You want me to go into that room with all those kids, and fill their every waking moment with a love for learning. Not only that, I'm to instill a sense of pride in their ethnicity, behaviorally modify disruptive behavior, and observe them for signs of abuse, drugs, and T-shirt messages. I am to fight the war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases, check their backpacks for guns and raise their self-esteem. I'm to teach them patriotism, good citizenship, sportsmanship and fair play, how and where to register to vote, how to balance a checkbook and how to apply for a job, but I am never to ask if they are in this country illegally.
I am to check their heads occasionally for lice, maintain a safe environment, recognize signs of potentially antisocial behavior, offer advice, write letters of recommendation for student employment and scholarships, encourage respect for cultural diversity of others, and oh yeah, teach, always making sure I give the girls in my class fifty percent of my attention.
I'm required by my contract to be working, on my own time, summer and evenings and at my own expense towards additional certification, advance certification and a master's degree, to sponsor the junior class and after school I am to attend committee and faculty meetings and participate in staff development training to maintain my current certification and employment status.
I am to collect data and maintain all records to support and document our building's progress in the selected state mandated program to "assess and upgrade educational excellence in the public schools." I am to be a paragon of virtue larger than life, such that my very presence will awe my students into being obedient and respectful of authority. I am to pledge allegiance to supporting family values, a return to the basics, and my current administration.
I am to incorporate technology into the learning, but monitor all web sites for appropriateness while providing a personal one-on-one relationship with each student. I am to decide who might be potentially dangerous or liable to commit crimes in school or who is possibly being abused and I can be sent to jail for not mentioning these suspicions to those in authority. I am to make sure ALL students pass all mandated testing and all classes, whether or not they attend school on a regular basis or complete any of the work assigned. I am to communicate frequently with each student's parent by letter, phone, newsletter, and grade card.
I'm to do all of this with just a piece of chalk, a computer, a few books, a bulletin board, a 45 minutes or less plan time, and a big smile, on a starting salary that qualifies my family for food stamps in many states.
Is that all?”

I'm a small animal veterinarian in Southwest Portland. I run a clinic with my wife, who's also a vet. If I whine hard enough, she'll cover a shift for me so I can be on the river when the fish are in!

Hey Tyler,
HELL NO, I don't work for K2, (as they say, f*ck2) they are one of the ones that moved all their stuff to China. They went from a peak of 600 employees on Vachon to 20 now... no wonder the people there are still pissed as DJ said.
K2 owns Ride and Morrow, they are all made in China. So are most of the Burtons. Salomon's boards are made in Tunesia, there are lots of other boards made in eastern Europe, and then a bunch built in government-subsidized factories in Austria
There are only a few US snowboard manufacturers left, and I work for by far the biggest one, Mervin Manufacturing. We make Lib Tech and Gnu snowboards, snowskateboards, composite street skateboards and Bent Metal snowboard bindings.
