I've been out of town for the past month on business and just got back Saturday. Most of that time I was chompping at the bit to get back on the river. I figured Sunday would be perfect, Easter, not too crowded. What a day we launched at Sultan first light, pulled plugs through that whole streach and not sniff. By the time we got around the corner the sun started to peak through the clouds and warm up, as did the fishing, we hooked six fish in that streach, two of which went over 20lbs. a few quick pictures and back into the perfect green water. All in all it was a banner day, nine for twelve with three over twenty pounds nice warm sunny day and the best part there was no pressure. Whats up with that, given it's Easter but I thought there might be a few people out there on the river.

The Skykomish closed March 1st under an emergency closure. Good thing you didn't get caught by a gamewarden or you'd be in some big trouble.

Does anyone read the regulations or check the WDFW web site anymore? It is unbelievable to me that anyone could be fishing the Skykomish River given it has been closed due to low wild fish counts. This is not closely held information. The more I read this board the more amazed I am. If you had been caught I'm sure the punishment would have included jail time in addition to a very substantial fine. You do however provide an excellent example for our need to improve funding for our Fisheries Patrol division of WDFW. For that I thank you.

Chubby, Nine for twelve ? That would be pretty good for on open season , but come on . With no one on the river for a month, you should be putting up way better numbers than that. :p :p :p Try again . We only want hear something like 25 for 30 next time . laugh laugh laugh

That was supposed to read APRIL FOOLS but the wife was yapping in my ear about mowing the lawn and I got distracted.

I thought the Green was closed too. Saturday I saw 2 boats with 3 guys in each fishing spawner water just above the Auburn golf course. Was this a test fishery or tribal guides? Does anyone have the scoop? I was in a hurry or I would have called someone.

Sorry about that Les & Craven, I know it was real early in the morning to get your blood boiling. There's always a few of you out there you can put both thumbs down and rare back for a good hook set on. Have a nice April fool's day!

Hey, fool them when you can. Due to my reputation I can't get anything by people unless I choose a day other than 1 April.

Outstanding! I was a real easy target though since I'm generally steamed about one thing or another when it comes to wild steelhead. You have my congratulations for hooking me solidly and then making a very gentle release. We probably need more good humor in these trying times.
