so you want rules...

This is what I origianally posted:

VTopic: Let the trash talk begin...F4 "The Really Big One" will be Saturday April 13th.
Gizmo Man

OK, we listened, we checked and now we are announcing the date of the next floattilla. The outgoing tide ends about 2:30 or so. (I am trusting Jack on this). The event will be held in the Columbia River near the mouth of the Lewis River and the town of St. Helens.

At about 3pm, we will meet at Sand Island for an informal gathering to share stories and to meet each other and weigh in your catch.

You will need to bring your own food, plates, drinks and what ever to the festivities.

Those with last names ending in the letters A through M bring a salad to share...those from N to Z bring a dessert.

We will have a weigh in for the heavest Spring Chinook for bragging rights. ALL FISH MUST BE WEIGHTED IN BY 3:30 PM TO COUNT...NO EXCEPTIONS

We will weigh the fish from Wa and Or fishers to see who has the most overall weight. This will put an end as to who has the better fishers.

If you have a bbq that is portable, let me know as we will be needing a few for people to cook on.

If you have any prizes or know of anyone who has any door prizes they would like us to share with those in attendance let me know.

If you have any problems or want to make any complaints...direct those to Keith and Jack...
just kidding because this is a fun event...and we will all keep it that way.

When we get closer to the date, I will post a sign up sheet so we can see who is in whos boat. Also, if conditions should change, such as water conditions, color, nets, or any unforseen circumstance we reserve the right to change the date and location (Jack's tub where he will have 10 springers swmimming).

I would like to thank the PP and Ifish administrators for their support by allowing us to announce this event on their bb's. If they would like to contribute any door prizes or volunteer their services, that would be appreciated as well as any one of you out there that can enhance this experience for all...

Giz...

So C&E what else do you want me to post...

Where you can fish?...the area near St. Helens.

Only fish caught legal on the 13th count. Not the ones on Friday.

This is an honor system. If you feel you need to fish some other part of the river, I have no way of policing you nor do I care...this is a fun event and I intend to spend the day on the river fishing and meeting all you nice folks.

No fish caught with paid guides that day. This is for non professionals. Its ok to have a guide fishing for fun...

As long as you are at the weigh in by the 3:30 pm deadline your fish will count. Miss it by a minute and you are invited to have fun with the rest of the fishless people.

The heaviest fish wins. It will be cut open after it is weighed to insure there is no lead packed inside the fish. Don't want it cut opened, don't weigh it in.

In the event of a tie, a coin will be flipped.

Let's just remember that this is a fun event and lets all keep it that way. And Bernie if you want to whine about the rules, come to the special weigh in on Sunday... smile

By coming to the weigh in you agree to the rules above.

Of course I'm not running this event (just plan on winning it, that's all), but my guess would be that you can put in around there and if you wanna waste a bunch of time boating to Hell and back to your honey hole then knock yourself out.

And if you need to cheat to win a fishing contest where there are no prizes for winning then that's your hangup.

Just my guess.

To Everyone: Each of the previous flotillas was held on a specific river and a social event was held afterwards for bragging rights.

This event is the same way. I don't care where you fish in the Columbia as long as it is the Columbia below Bonneville. (Now the folks who want to fish at the wind will be upset.)We said the St. Helens area originally recognizing this opens up many areas accessable from Wa and Or boat ramps. We have not put a boundry assuming there was enough water to fish in and around St. Helens. If you want to fish Washougal or Longview go for it or some other place in the Columbia.

Let's not make this event complicated. Go fish for a springer in the columbia river, and if you want to weigh it in, be at sand island at 3:30. That's it...lets all have fun. smile

And sorry about the honor system comments, however, the point is that this is for those of us who want to have fun and we don't need folks showing up with fish that were caught before the event and in some contests, the fish have been stuff with lead. (just ask the sponsors of some of the recent sturgeon derbys what they have been through.)

If anyone disagrees with the above or feels that I am not responsive let me know here in this post...its not too late for you to take over. (You can't believe some of the emails I have gotten from folks wanting secret spots so they can have a leg up and beat those orgonians, or wanting rules or just plain worring about things in general.)

If you like what I have been doing so far, I would like to hear that too.
