A month ago or so someone posted that by going to Spiderline's homepage you could get some free 12lb mono. Well I filled out the info they wanted and earlier this week I got it. It's called the SuperMono XXX and I loaded up my reel yesterday for a trip to the Skagit. The stuff is really small diameter but casted nice. But......a couple of times I got snagged and broke off above the swivel without putting too much pressure on it, got me wondering what was up. Than after putting on a new lure and making a few casts I got a hard, hard hit.....almost like instant snag but this snag immediately turned and started to run. Before I could do anything I felt the line go slack and than up came this beautiful bright Steelhead that proceeded to jump five or six times with my lure hanging out of his mouth. I bet he would have been a great fight had the Spiderline SuperMono XXX hadn't broke!!

Anyway, I quit fishing with it after that and used my backup rod the rest of the day. This morning I'm taking the Spiderline off. I guess free isn't always a good thing. Anybody tried their "free" Spiderline yet? My "free" line came at a price!

Had the same thing happen to me, luckly I always carry another spool of line. I sent it back and told them I wanted my money back.

Wish I had known this before I spooled the stuff up Guess I'll have to make sure I take a spare spool of Trilene along. Thanks for the heads up.

I havn't tried any of the free spool yet but i have tried some of there other supermonos. Wich i liked becuase of castability and low profile. Used it for sturgeon fishing off of bradford island using 20-25# test. The thing i would have to say is that it is not very good at abrasiveness, so if your driftfishing or anything that gonna rub on somethin i wouldn't use it. just my experience. Mike
