Well since they took away our June Salmon fishing in Area 11, what can I fish for locally other than trout in the lakes?? Is there any good bottom fishing for Ling's or Rock fish or whatever in the South Sound or Hood Canal in the month of June? I even see that Halibut opens in the Hood Canal in May. Is there any decent Halibut fishing areas in the Canal?? Any info would be appreciated, just cant picture not getting out in the sound on some nice June days!

Tight Lines!!

Lings can be found from Possesion to the Narrows in the spring, May 1st to June 15th. Lots of past posts detail the spots and tackle.

You might want to hook up with me in May for a 'butt trip to P.A. Sekiu will be open May 1st for vertually guaranteed limits of bottomfish too.

Email me for details.

Hey Seacat,
Anytime you're going to P.A. or Sekiu and you have an open seat let me know. I'd love to do one of those outings and pick up some more tips from you. Glad to hear your boat is ready for water again, I bet you are just chompin' at the bit!

Tight lines!!

May is actually a good time to start fishing the South Sound. The bait has started to concentrate around Fox Island and pretty good fishing can be found off Gibson Pt on the Incoming tide. Ketron Island is another good spot.

start fishing for shallow water bottomfish, cabezon, babylings, rockfish, get a topograghy map. flyfishin is pretty good thru rich paasage and southworth, southern end of blake, and yukon harbor in transition zones from sand to rocks around current swept points. I live in port orchard also, there is a abundance of different knids of fish to catch around here, just a matter of doing it. tight lines Ben

No Halibut in Hood Canal ....closest I've heard of one being caught was off Mats Mats Bay north of the HC bridge.

Umrules: Area 13 opens May 1. I have had some success in May & June fishing for kings off of Lyle Point (s-tip of Anderson Island). Have caught fish both mooching & trolling there. Usually not much competition down there that time of year but may be more with Tacoma Area shut down until July 1. Check in with the Narrows Marina folks & they can also help out for local spots. Definitly worth a trip when you have that itch to get the boat out again!
