Got a new ride for the Wshington boat last night. If any of you ever plan on building your own driftboat trailer, or are looking to put some need goodies on the one you already have ... this might be one to model after.

The trailer has actually been around awhile, in fact, another guide in town used to own this one ... but it's been in the garage undergoing a complete rebuild for a few years and here's the finished product:

Want to leave it on the back of the rig and still let the water drain (not like that's a need when you fish most everyday and live in Forks)??? Simple, the trailer tilts up and lets her drain:

Need to drop the boat down a nasty bank? No problem, trailer's all set for that ...

But just launching from the bar today?? That's a snap too (my mended back like the ease of this) ... double roller system, a gentle shove and she's off!

Rollers for the chine in the back will make uneven loading a snap ... more stainless steel, premium bearings in all of these rollers and all pvc coated!

How 'bout built-in backup lights, plate light, and beauty rings on them all ...

Even all the chains and snaps are stainless ...

Glad someone else put all this work in, now I get to enjoy it :p

But not till next fall!!

Sorry Cyclops smile It is, I've been hounding the fella about this thing for about three years and then out of the blue he calls up and wants to sell. There went the rest of Fishgal's ring fund frown But she understands that the fella that originally built (and was involved with the restore) no longer builds these and it may have been my only chance to get one. Plus she just couldn't say "No" when she saw it was already painted white smile

I'm going to pick up the big boat's trailer tomorrow ... I had it Rhino-Lined and am curious to see how it will hold up vs. other finishes. Let me know how the powder coating works for you!

Well, at least we all know now, that if there's ever a nuclear attack, or another iceage, that Bob's boat trailer will still be fishable. laugh

Nice trailer. Been thinking of working on mine to do that. When I bought my now cataraft trailer the original owner welded the tilt loader shut. Would be nice to be able to load it by a tilt.

Haven't seen too many drift boat trailer that are that nice Bob! You better get a good lock for that piece of work, because I heard a rumor that "Sparkey" could be found lurking in the woods, waiting for you to leave it unattended. wink

Ooftah, that's a beaut. That's not the one Gordy has had around for awhile is it? Very nice. I have never had a trailer with rollers that actually rolled. My one nitpicky question, where's that license plate holder? Seems well positioned to be smashed on a steep drop.

Somebody had to ask. Anyway, very nice.

Bruce

Jeeze, what a bunch of sickos getting all worked into a lather over a boat trailer.

Hey Bruce ... Not Gordy's trailer, this one belonged to Tom the fishchecker.

Interesting question about the plate ... I've smashed many a plates over the years and wondered the same thing, but it's not too far from the axle ... so it doesn't even come close.

This is the view from behind when the trailer is fully tilted up in resting position

But should it ever hit something ... it's taken care of: the plate is attached to a stainless plate and then attached to the trailer via a stainless hinge that will allow it to swing smile

They even though of that one :p You get to see the shocks in this one too ...
