Is anyone here planning on hitting the Puget Sound halibut opener on May 9th?

If so, do you prefer to use bait or jigs? I'm trying to locate some octopus in the Lynnwood/Everett area to use for bait. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I'll be out there, maybe not on the opening day but in May. I like to go with the classic spreader bar and horse herring. Favorite spots - PA 31/36 (or is it 36/31??) and Freshwater Bay. Good luck, send a report and let us know how you do.

Hey seadeep, Ted's in Lynnwood has pre-packaged octopus and squid. If I remember right, the price was 4-5 dollars for a package of three.

Get some whole columbia river shad... Slice them right down the middle, rig them with 2 9/0's and half hitch the tail a couple of times and hang on.... That was the ticket in Sitka when we went up. I'd never fish halibut without them..
