What's happening on the Kalama? Are there an fish (Springers or steelhead) in yet? When do the summers generally start running in good numbers?
Matt

I fished the Kalama last week. We floated from the slab hole to Camp Kalama. My friend caught 1 springer in the Cedar Creek hole. Talked to two other boats that didn't touch a thing, but all the bank fisherman I talked to had at least one. All the fish were caught in the head of the holes.

Plan to meet LOTS of new friends! Fished lower part yesterday morning, on the water around 6:00am, and there must have been 2 dzn anglers from lower hatchery to bridge. Looks as if the no bait rule on the East Fork is pushing fisherman onto the K. I didn't touch anything, flyfishing, saw one bent rod at the beginners hole. Springers and steelhead in.

BM, I see what you mean. By looking at my post I sound like a complete idiot. lol. Ya, something there just didn't come out right. What I should have said (meant)is are there salmon and steelhead in the river in numbers by now (specificaly higher in the river)? That's what I should have said, but I'm kinda realizing that people aren't going to give that kind of information out. I just know some of the reports I have heard have been towards the mouth and was wondering what was going on upriver. Matt

RIPDATLIP
Went to the Kalama today and fished the Canyon area. Saw a few BRIGHT summer steelies about 8-10lbs that were caught on #4 spinners. My friend caught two spingers on eggs. The section of the canyon we fished must have been pretty good because we saw several dried blood spots on the bank. As for me I caught six 10inch smolts. Good luck.
