Every time I see a post on conditions up on the Forks area I start to get pumped. Been sitting at the desk thinkin', not something that I usually do at work, about spending a week or so camping on the peninsula, maybe start fishing on the Queets and than go as far as the lower Sol Duc.
Pretty familar with the rivers, usually go up September-Nov. and base around three rivers.
For camping would probably stay at Ox Bow, Cottonwood or somewhere along the Hoh below park.
90% fly fish, steelhead.
Any thoughts which month, June or July, best? What rivers to concentrate on? Not asking for special spots just some info that would help me not to beat water for 7 days.
More than happy to swap info on SW WA.

I am heading to the Hoh this weekend. It is my first time fishing the rivers on the Penninsula. I will be bank fishing and was wondering if any one would share some bank tactics. I tie my own jigs and was wondering what colors would be affective? Or if jig are even effective in the Hoh. Also what is better for bank fishing, the upper or lower river??? Please help me make this a successful trip for me and my Dad. Any positive reply would be nice. smile

Wingwang the upper river is closed so the lower it is. colors pink herring blue or lite green. The end of oil city road is a very good bank spot ,Nolan creek bar,Ox bow,Cottonwood camp ground,G&L shake road.Or the Hoh humm ranch stop and ask first, drive right down to the river. The upper river will open june 1st. laugh laugh cool

When bank fishing the Hoh you want to use gear larger than you would any other river. For some reason the fish on the Hoh seem more aggresive. My last trip there we used Aero-fly's ( pink )and we all caught steelies. There are holes at the end of Oil City road is where we had our success.
