...so far, at least.

Here's an interesting story about artificial fertilization of the Keogh River in B.C..

Sounds pretty encouraging.

Funny cause when I was on the South Santiam Friday some cracker @ss oreo told me "ya better not throw that steelie back in after u fillet it!" Naturally I told him hes an idiot and to try and stop me, its good for the river I told him. Seems he didn't want to smell it a week later? He also told me I could be givin a ticket, and had the balls to tell me I was filleting my fish wrong! lol I told him to catch his own, maybe then he could show me. Funny how guys try to make you feel like ya did something wrong, and they could be that uniformed about river productivity and nutrients. RT I know you know whats up help these oreos out! Maybe an artical in STS titled "Don't bring bones home"

B,

Whether it makes sense scientifically or not, I believe that ODFW regulations don't allow you to toss carcasses in Oregon rivers after cleaning fish.

Maybe they'll revisit the regulations based on the prevailing science. I think the intent of the regulation is to prevent the type of mess that occurs at the Wind River gorge each summer when half the yahoos don't bother even getting the carcasses into the water, leaving them all over the bank to stink up the neighborhood.

Fish on...

Todd.

Do we have any results from similar WA/OR projects yet? I spent a day with the forest service and Trout Unlimited throwing frozen coho into a Clackamas trib a year and 1/2 ago.

Thats what he told me too Todd, guess what, I'll take a ticket for that, I'm a firm believer it adds nutrients to the river and gives aquatic life more feed inturn helping out smolts. I'm sure smolts pick off it too. I did make sure I threw it way into the river! Going, going, gone!

I have no problem with what BK did however what about when you clean a fish or throw a carcass from a fish that you caught in one system into another system? Could you be spreading disease? I was pulling out at High Bridge on the Sky once and these two guys pull up and started cleaning these huge rainbows. I asked where they caught them and they said Rocky Ford Creek in Eastern Washington. I'm not to sure I want the guts of fish from Eastern Washington in my home stream in Western Washington.
