Do you have or know someone that has a Honda 225?
Do you have an opinion or information that a prospective buyer might find helpful in making the big decision? Thanks for any comments.

A friend of mine just purchased a new Duckworth with a Honda 225 on it. So far only a few hours on it--not yet broken in--but it is sweet. 50+ mph in a 21 foot boat from a quiet 4 stroke is nothing to sneeze at. And with Honda's history of reliability it's sure to be a great motor for years to come. About the only complaint I have is that I find the shape of the cowling kinda ugly--but I'm sure others would differ with me on that. Overall, I'd give it a big thumbs up if you're willing to pay the price. How much less is a Yamaha. . . ?

If you want further info, he'd probably be glad to talk to you about it, so email me and I'll put you in touch with him.

Can't say as I know anything much about the 225 Honda but I recently purchased a 115hp Honda 4 stroke and I love it.....runs super quiet, doesn't smoke and uses way less than half the fuel of a 2 stroke. The 225 is an Acura block and the 115 is an Accord block.....the next ones down are the Civic block. All tried and tested engines.....only complaint I have is that it's a little heavier than the 120 johnson that I had on it so it changed the trim of the boat a little.

All in all.....the Honda is a super motor

Honda motors are great, but that 225 is as big as a house. How much does it weigh?

I was totally sold on 4-stroke til I checked out my friends Merc 225 optimax. It is quiet, doesn't smoke and is very efficient.....

BigShark,

That 225 is an awesome motor! We have sold 2 and have 1 left.... I would be willing to let it go, to a fellow board memeber, for $14,250 plus tax and lic and prop and control cables. Let me know if we can help. bryan@3riversmarine.com

Good luck,
Bryan

BNelsen, Thanks for the info. We will not be ready
till next spring. I understand thet are a 600 lb
monster but we saw one on a boat at Tillamook Bay and let me tell you it is an impressive display of power yet wisper quiet. We want a NorthRiver Seahawk and the boat mfg said it is a perfect fit.
If we drop the lower unit and use a pump with the transom adjuster it is still more power than we will actually use. With the prop we would probably use about half throttle for our needs. That equals a very long engine life too me. I will not buy without giving you a shot at the business. You don't have to beat anyones price, just be close. My business will stay with those on
this board as long as I'm not being taken advantage of. Thanks Again!
