I know the Skokomish will not be open till August 1st for Kings, but are they starting to show up yet? It seems that the Kings are showing up everywhere else. I am going to be in the area Diving the first week of August, so if the Kings are starting to come in now then I can guage to see if it is worth it to stay an extra day to fish.

I've fished the river during mid-summer and it always seems to void of fish. Haven't even had much luck there for c-runs during the dog days. Salmon out in the canal during mid-summer also seem to have lock-jaw.

There is a parade and firework display in Hoodsport this weekend.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

If you're talking about hanging out until after Aug. 1st for the opener, I'd say it's probably not worth staying. Chances are the river will be dead low and most of the fish will be in the tidewater section and under pressure from a few dozen snaggers. If you get a solid blast of rain in the week before, then it could be a different story.
