I'm looking for a new salmon net and have done a search and it looks like beckman is the best. I can't find one anywhere,I'm getting tired of driving all over town looking for one. I've seen Ranger nets at a few places and the salesman say there good, but I don't know how they compare to a beckman.

Should I get the Ranger or should I keep looking for a beckman? Any idea on the cost of a beckman? I really want a 6' handle but thats about my only requirement. Thanks.

Beckman has an edge in name recognition cuz they were the first good net made. I have never heard of a ranger net. For the last 4 years my boat has had a Frabill Power Catch after I saw it beat the Beckman in a one on one yoke strength test. I believe the Frabill with the six foot handle and weighted bag is around $70 bucks.
Didn't look where you are from but I know that Sortco has them...I am sure Jerrys has them and I know Bobs has them...that covers the I-5 corridor anyway.

Ted's Sport Center in Lynnwood has Beckman's and many other high quality nets. Be ready to shell out about $100 for a Beckman, but it will be money well spent. I got one as a present two years ago (thanks Parker) and we have netted A LOT of fish with it and it still holds up great. The bag is pretty deep too which makes it nice for bigger fish and don't forget about the lifetime guarantee on the yoke.
