I stopped by Bush Point the other day, and the beach is posted No Trespassing. The property owners were propably upset with all the trash on the beach last year. Does anyone know the rule regarding where the property owner's land ends? Is it the mean high water?

Were I live on the water in Seattle it depends on the classification of tidelands. I belive most water front property is class 2 which means if you are on the beach you are trespassing! Just ask for permission.

Classification has very little if anything to do with how much of the beach you own. All it does have to do with is where in relationship to a city or town your tidelands are. The real question here is the extent of tide height ownership from the high tide line or more typically the meander line which is usually the vegetation line downwards to extreme low water. This will vary from parcel to parcel. Ignoring the meander line ownership you will run into 2 types of tidelands ownership the first being mean low water....this varies throughout Puget Sound from a + 2 foot to a +3 foot tide height. The next type would be extreme low which is easy for all of you...minus 3 to minus 3.5 feet. Finally the navigable waters thing does not apply if your walking across someones property...your trespassing.
