So is Friday the best day to go in terms of crowds? I just got a call from a buddy with a smokercraft and two downriggers.. I'm set baby yeeah!

Also, would a 6'6 medium action rod work or should i stick with my 8' medium action shimano downriggin pole?

what lb do you use for your main line? I know to use about a 40 lb for my leader, as it said on salmon university.

Thanks!

Curtis

I must be doing it all wrong. I like to use an older 8' 6" Lamiglass drift rod - equiv to a Loomis 1024. Nice steelhead drift rod. Doesn't seem to break in half on me on the riggers.

5500 with 12 lb. Ultra Green or the Maxima pink stuff. I just think the pink line is cool to look at while fighting a fish. Doesn't matter.

20 lb leader seems to work. So does 15. Nice thing about 20 leader is if you get a fish and don't want to get your net wet, you just yard the fish out of the water by holding on the flasher!

This is a meat fishery <period>. This is the fishery to take the wife and kids on. The flasher will fight harder than the sockeye. Just turn the boat towards the fish during the fight. They come right up to the surface and in to the boat. Instead of doing the coho death roll, they will follow the flasher in on the surface. Looks like Jaws is following your flasher to the boat! Maybe a few head shakes at the end to see if they can toss the hooks. The hardest part of this fishery, from watching everyone else, seems to be keeping fish on the hooks. Lots of people seem to lose fish in this fishery.

Just my opinion.
