Well, now that it's August I am beginning to drool at the thought of hitting the Samish River at the end of the month. Another post talks about "most productive fisheries". Well this has got to be it! The first time I ever braved the 0-Dark:30 trip down the dike and thru the knee deep mud I had 5 fish landed and released before it was light enough to even see the guy standing next to me, I've been hooked ever since.

All I need now is new combat gear. laugh Gotta get my elbows in shape. laugh Can't beleive some of those crazy fools actually get there at 2 or 3AM just to stand in front of their favorite piling.

When I started fishing there 10 years or so ago most everybody was drifting eggs under a float, then it progressed to just bottom bouncing eggs, then last year I saw a lot of people bouncing jigs which actually looked like it was working pretty well.

I've heard that the state is closing this hatchery down? Anybody have more info on this? Would be a shame to lose this great little hatchery run.

Also, please please please pack your trash out with you! This fishery has already been closed once because of the litter left on the river. rolleyes If you take it in...pack it back out.

Snaggers stay home! mad
