Well,
I see Trailrat and Aaron made it back. I had a good time as well.
The silvers are in folks, get ready for some fun fishing at F6!
We started the day off with my first bait in the water getting hit before I had a chance to put it in the rod holder. There were a few slow periods, an hour at most, but I believe we had at least 3 doubles, maybe 4. It was Sekiu fishing at its best. We stopped at 12:45pm and if we hadn't tagged out that last hatchery fish, we could have had a shot at breaking 30+ fish for the day. There was a good number of hatchery fish out ther.
We used everything in the boat, even Aaron's special recipe chum

, and it all caught fish. The favorite today seemed to be the whole herring that Shane was kind enough to bring. For light tackle tactics we attached the flashers to the downrigger balls and then ran a stacker rig about 4 feet above and 5 feet behind.
The hot spot, as usual, seemed to be the area between Clallam bay and the area 4/5 boundary, but about 2.5 to 4 miles out.
The water was nice, again, but there was some fog. I would suggest anyone heading up to F6 who has a GPS to bring it (even if you aren't bringing your own boat because the boat you ride on may not have it), and the same with FRS and VHF radios. Communication and knowing where we were played key roles in our success today. One other thing that helped was different ideas on what methods to fish, try everything. If you aren't catching fish out there, move. The folks who didn't fare well today stayed in the same place and fished the same gear all day. We tried at least 7 different methods. (two types of coyote spoons, bait busters, brined plug cut with weight, without weight, whole herring with weight, off a deep six, off a downrigger, etc. Find the fish, don't wait for them to come find you.
