The first annual Edmonds Coho Derby was held at the Port of Edmonds Marina Saturday the 7th. We gave away thousands of dollars in prizes including tons of prizes for all the kids. Top prize money of $1400 cash went to Scott Clements of Mercer Island. Scott weighed in his winning 8.5# coho at about 9am and he was sure he didn't have a chance to win. Well he won. Second place was another 8.5# Coho caught by Charles Ison who was visiting from Sarasota Florida (you're welcome Edmonds Chamber of Commerce).....

And third place for $350 was.....ME!!!!!

I personally was treated to 15 bucks worth of Silver Horde gear which was nice, covered the entry fee anyways.

I still cant beleive an 8.5# fish won the day. I figure the fish could only have been 9.5 with his innards in place, I have seen a few fish this year, and caught a few, that have been larger.

Yeah I never thought mine had a chance.

In a "normal" year, the run of larger coho is about at it's peak on September 7th. Of course, this year, every fish run seems about 2 weeks late.

Our monthly meeting of the SnoKing PSA will be at Coco's restaurant (near Aurora Village) at 7:00 on September 18th. Come and check us out.

We have already started working on a bigger and better derby for next year.

Boy hearing from someone that had a good time and thinks that the derby was well run made my day. I'm really glad all those kids had a good day too...Thanks to all who participated...
