Brothers,
A couple holes I fish have really snaggy rock bottoms so I have been trying these Lindy No Snag weights for drift fishing. They come in various sizes and are shaped kind of like a banana with a small wire sticking out of the end. Are there any drawbacks to using these weights instead of lead? They seem to have an equally good feel across the rocks and are very snag-free. I am rigging them with the basic bead and swivel above the leader. Thanks for your opinions.

I like the Lindy style set up for snaggy ares.
They are also great for non snaggy areas, the wire really ticks the bottom well and you can feel every little pebble.
Only draw backs are the price, little too much for lead.
I make my own and works just as well.

To make these use hollow pencil lead and stick a spinner wire through the lead and crimp the end with eye. pre cut the pencil lead to desire weights and viola you have your own.

Or you can do the same set up as mentioned above but use heat sink wrap and cover the entire lead except for the wire. This gives it that extra slick protection.

In real snaggy stuff I like good old slinkies and in really low snaggy water 1/16th inch lead (hard to find) works great, and its really plyable so it bends its way free. And like divers said, lindy's just aren't very cost effective. Just tie extra leaders and take your losses.

Divers, Thanks - great tip to get the function of the no-snag at a fraction of the price. Thanks again. FYI - the Nisqually is starting to pick up. I hit 2 this morning in 45 minutes. Both kings had good color and I was the only guy in the drift smile

They work pretty well, but the price is way too high, so I've made my own in the past with the same results. Except I didn't put the really cool, neon colors on there.

Make some slinkie-weights using surgical tubing.

One more tip for fishing snaggy areas is to slip a section of a drinking straw over a chunk of pencil lead. Depending on the size of the straw, you may have to put a little crook in the lead to keep it from slipping off, but it really keeps it from sticking to rocks.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

I can see the coating and the curve helping but what is the deal with the wire?
