i was down at sportco checking out i do believe lami's, and they had this metal/rubber butt, its probably for counter blalance, but i didnt like it, is that what comes on the 10'6 inch rainshadow rods or can i have one fitted with jus a regular length, corky butt end.?? and another ?, so i was curing up some eggs last night, and i tried some salt and sugar, i heard of it in sts, anyone ever try it this way, i seemed to have left the salt in to long for they turned a lil hard, whats the prop[er timing on curing eggs this way...i tried bobs idea of curing, let them soak in luke warm water, but mine jus fell apart..lol...anyways..thanks for all the advice, im looking at the rainshadow 1264, it sounds like a keeper..there is a few people who offer them, i jus need to see there craftmanship.. thanks again..bb

Lead Thrower...

Love the blanks... real good action plus a strong lower spine. TH used a blue poly glue on the threads so it has an awesome look. Get alot of compliments on it. The 1143 blank is nice for me because it is an all in one type of rod. I can use it for boondoggin and then throw a jig on it and have enough height to hold the line out of water, but it's not so long that it is awkward to use in small streams.

Hey Berkeley boy, those rods by lami you're talking about I do believe are Canadian float rods. Should have almost a spey rod butt look. Made for using Centerpins. If it's the one I think you're talking about.

I'd highly suggest going the 2 rod route. I've done the one rod scenerio. Only rod I've ever known to truly handle the range you need are the old Fenwick glass rods. Rated from 8-20# test on one blank. I used to have two reels set up, one with 12# for steelies and one with 20# for kings. Those old 85c's were damned good rods. But not in length you're looking for though. Good luck, hope you find what you're looking for.

Be sure to check out the Allstar rods, lifetime warranty, Same numbering system as Loomis's and about 1/2 to 2/3 the savings on like models. Lots of local dealers have em, Sportco just ordered and should have em in a week or so.

Berkley Boy,
we can build a 1264 or a 1143 in any configuration you choose.. we can vary the length of the cork, wrap it it any color, uses a wide variety of guides etc. and all well below what you'd pay for a similar rod off the rack.
