I'm very new to the area and have not had the opportunity to learn the ropes of salmon fishing. A friend from the Midwest would like to come out in 1 week to spend a couple days fishing from the riverbanks for salmon. From the little bit I've heard and read, it seems like the bank angling has been pretty slow. Should I tell him to postpone his trip until later? Any advice on this as well as how, when and where to fish salmon would be greatly appreciated.

In one week the rivers should be packed with fish (silvers and some kings). You should start with the Green and work your way north.

Welcome Wayno, I would get info from a local tackle shop[not by phone, in person] I like Ted's in Lynnwood, Buy some gear and fish. Don't go to Walmart or Kmart or F meyers----- Ted's sells only fishing related items, hence a tackle shop.
