I took my uncle from Idaho fishing Saturday at the mouth of the Toutle and no luck; we saw lots of fish but no real bites except for a couple but most of the fish were snagged; we threw everything at them including the kitchen sink. I thought this year was to be an awesome year; if so were is the fishing really good somewhat close to Olympia and what can I use? I had good luck with jello cured eggs on the Nisqually but the fish in the Cowlitz won't even take them? HELP please. Thanks

I would throw in the towel on silvers and wait for chums, they are on their way. Hit Kennedy Creek or Hood Canal in a week or two.

Hey thanks guys; I thought about chum fishing on Saturday but wasn't sure if they had arrived yet; I also fish Mud Bay in Olympia for them and they are so easy to catch and lots of them; I do however plan to take my stepson and possibly my daughter chum fishing and let them see what it's like to get a hard fighting fish on; should be fun. My daughter is only 4 but of course I'll have my wife there with me to help watch her until I get a chum on then help her reel it in as she is always bugging me to go fishing with me; she's daddies girl and nothing wrong with a girl fishing.

Surecatch, mudd bay right off of 101 near s olympia. I am not thinking they are in there yet...I am hoping someone will step up and tell me I am wrong so I can catch some fish tomorrow. My experience is that you could catch the chum down there with an old tennis shoe.........................as long as it is green :p kidding of course...but green green green, corkies yarn spinners plugs...just green. But don't come racing down here until someone says for sure they are in, usually it is at least november I think.....
