I caught a 12 lb silver last week off the Shipwreck and cooked it up on the bq. It wasn't very good. The fish was a female and the meat wasn't real red. What is the deal? I am new at this but wonder if its all worth the effort.

TC,

Bleeding and keeping the fish fresh is the whole key to the favor. Did you do this?

That fish normally would have been way up river and ready to spawn by now, if it's river wasn't dry frown This time of year I just release 'em - caught my fill of bright fish the last two months and have more eggs than I need this winter by now anyway wink so back the skanky ones go :p

The females use all their excess body fat for egg production so when your in doubt of table fair the males have more body fat but still there is a time to let them go all together my .02 smile
