Gang,

Took Dangerous Dave out for his first guided trip in the South Sound this morning. Had a blast! Travelled through the fog to Green Pt and he nails this fish at 145' on a Glo Green Splatter back spoon. Dropped back down to 150' and we hook up a double within 5 minutes... Unfortunately, he lost a bigger fish at the boat and I released a shaker of 18" or so. All in all, one in the boat and four good sized shakers, one dogfish and 3 1/2 sand dabs (yes 3 1/2). Something took a good chunk outta it..

Unfortunately, this will be my last fishing report until December.... I'll be jumping in and out of the board until then... Take care..

Downriggin',
Nice fish....Again. Now that you are taking a break some of the rest of us might have a chance at any fish you left behind.

Easy,

Gotta be the picture... I could always go check the head in the freezer... (before you all think anything- crab bait) I would have noticed that this morning

Downriggin,

Thanks for the fishing trip I had a great time and learned a new spot. Wish I could find a place to launch my boat in that area with a dock. Oh we'll, when we get back from SD area, I'll take you out on my boat and do some Southworth and Manchester fishing. eek

Don't be givin' up our zipperlips DD!!! Wouldn't want to let anyone in on our secret spots now would we... rolleyes smile

THe closest launch for you is Pt. Defiance. In your boat it is an easy run through the narrows and over to the Fox Island bridge/Green Pt. areas. Used to fish out of my dad's Tiderunner and Livingston and cruised all over those areas no problem. In your boat , a piece of cake.

Seacat, do you think a 17.5 ft bayliner capri bowrider ( open bow) would work or will the waves be too rough out there? I plan on picking up my first downrigger this weekend! laugh

Unfortunately it will be manual - just got to get down where the fish are!

Busy,

A 17.5 footer is big enough... I am fishing out of a 16 footer open bow. Green Pt is fairly protected however, need to watch the winds from the N or SE because Carr Inlet can get extremely choppy and the ride back can be a "pant checker" if you're heading back to Narrow's Marina or where I launch on the peninsula.

If the winds are whipping, I'll launch in Wollochet Bay and fish either Fox Pt (ebb) or the bay itself- which is protected enough to fish comfortably.

Rockfish,

DD wants a dock at the ramp, and Fox Island is too shallow for his 20' except on higher tides. Kind of a rough ramp too. It's OK for small stuff, launched there a lot myself, but it's not the choice I'd make with DD"s boat.

Busy,

Generally no problem. Just know the forcast for wind before you go. Anything less than 10 knots sustained should be OK. Also, don't be afraid to point hop on the way....Pt. Evans, Pt. Fosdick, Fox Pt., etc...lot's of blackmouth in those waters.
