My congraulations to all that protested.

Sorry, I wasn't there but had to work.(copout)

Hope that it works out for you guys/gals that fish those rivers.

I'm sure now that those indians will get something in return for pulling their nets.

That's the news we had hoped to hear!!!

Excellent news for the fish, although they're certainly not home free as they're still having trouble getting up the rivers.

Silvers, by nature, are having less of a problem due to their size and the fact that they are trib spawners and don't mind the shallows as bad.

Kings are in bad shape, they are coming in extremely ripe right now and having lots of trouble getting up. Many are spawning within the Quillayute (some always do, but not a really high percentage). This is going to make these redds extremely succeptible to being scoured on the heels of fall rains that will inevitably show some day.

In 1987, the last and only year in the last 42 years that water was near this level ... local guides, anglers and OCC Inmates were brought out to dig channels for these fish. If things don;t change soon, we may have to take similar action.

I may call the state Monday to see what the thoughts are about trucking some fish upstream ... we have a tanker truck available that is used for the Snider Creek broodstock program. We'll see if it gets another use!

A big thanks and a round of applause to all those who helped either directly or indirectly!

One of the toughest tasks is to get fishermen to organize in any fashion. This recent organized protest shows what can happen for the better when we do organize. So let's work on the other 499,900 fishermen and women for next time.

I noticed in the WDFW announcement of the 10/27 closure that the Quileutes were pulling their nets to "protect the fish run"....BULL****! They pulled their nets because they were pressured to do so. Keep the pressure on.

eek I almost forgot to mention that the Quileutes would have pulled their nets Friday through Monday anyway...They have a loophole to change their mind about "protecting the run" next Tuesday....Hopefully someone in the area will keep an eye on our co-managers.

Bob,

If trucking fish or digging channels becomes an option, shoot for a weekend unless a weekday window is all that is allowed. Speaking for myself, I will have a much better chance in helping the cause. This would be just another way to put a possitive check next to the title of us sport fisherman.
Thanks for your effort and time!
