What type of oil do you use in your 4 stroke motors?? I have a new kicker that is about ready for its first oil change and I was debating with myself ( the only time I ever win a debate) if I should use a synthetic, synthetic blend or just stick with good old high quality oil (penzoil, castrol, etc..).
Let me know what you use and why and how its worked for you.

Thanks!!

When I had my 4 stroke, before it got stolen, I always used Chevron oil. Oils made in Texas are good. I always stay away from Pennsylvanian oils (Quaker State, Penzoil) they have a higher than normal ash content. Gums up your motors prematurely, car and boat.

If you are going to go with a synthetic Mobil 1 is top choice.

Which ever type of oil you use you will want to be consistent. Don't switch between normal oil and synthetics. You will develope oil leaks.

My $0.02 worth.

Do not use synthetic oil in a honda motor! It is not compatible with the seals. I dont know about the other manufacturers but the owners manual usually has a reccomendation. I agree with ez on the chevron thing.chevron's delo 400 seems to be the oil of choice for the marine industry
