Bare are very Good.
But for less money you can get the Kobucks, which are not bad.
Why not Breathables?

Get the BARE's. I bought a pair last year and love them. They have them on sale at times, try Outdoor Emporium in Seattle for a good price.

If you just want to keep warm get Hodgemans. Cheap and problem free as far as I know. fishy

Please!!! Don't buy Hodgemans.
Any wader that has the Hodgeman factor suck!!
Plain and simple. I have purchased them for the last time and did it for the price only. Hoping to get 1 season out of them and didn't expect any longer but on the second day I wore them they started leaking through the seams. There neoprene seem to absorb water not repel it and a friend of mine purchased there wadelight type for I believe $180 and they fill up very fast. I am hard on waders so I try not to spend very much on them but I will have to start spending more money if I want to stay dry.

Unfortunately for me, I was dumb enough to have once purchased a pair of Bare neoprene waders. frown

After realizing my mistake and getting pair of SIMMS breathables, I still sometimes beathead for buying the Bares.

IMO, I'd recommend the SIMMS breathables over any neoprene waders.

I have used Hodgeman's for the past 7 years. The first pair I bought Lasted about 4 years without any leaks at all. You have to take care of Neoprenes.... Like hanging them up properly to dry so they do not leak at the seams, fixing the leaks when you rip them on branches. I am hard on my waders also, but never had a problem. I just bought some this year and no problems yet. To each is own.

I wish I had your pair. This was the second time I've worn them. I hang them upside down and keep them out of direct sunlight when not in use. The fact is Hodgeman waders are of poor quality, they should send a voucher for a free 5 gallon bucket of aqua seal with every pair sold. I don't think it's a coincidence that of all my friends that have purchased them not one person has found a good pair. It's a running joke between us that we kept buying them knowing they were going to leak.
The Hodgeman factor is the only common denominator.

If you are hard on waders like I am, go to Walmart and get the Hodgeman. Believe it or not, I am probably the harder on waders than a southern prison warden on prisoners.
For the price, they are a fair wader. If they leak, take 'em back are replace 'em. I have had the same pair of Hodgeman's for four years now... I think I paid $49.00 for them.

How hard are you on waders? Do you tromp through the brush to get to the next hole? Wear them without boots at the boat ramp?
Are you climbing over trees, scaling rocks to get to the next spot? You definitely don't want to spend top dollar if you do any of the above.

If you don't, I would get a pair of Bare's. They are priced fairly and comfortable.

I have always hated Neoprenes. They may keep you warm, but after a long day on the river or in the Driftboat, you smell like flatulence. Your whole body feels like a foot in a wet sock. I hate 'em.

Just plain old Waders ad Wool Pants have always done me well.

This will be the first year with a new pair of breathables. At least when you fart in those it just blows away. You don't have to stew in it all day long!

I will only wear breathables but Bare has the best in the neoprene style. There is a lots of difference between the way a breathable and a neoprene wears. My 2 cents. Good luck with your decision.

having been a hodgeman wearer (and happily, if ignorantly so) for many years, I would have recommended them, until today. In a conversation with a locally respected angler, the subject of waders arose. He commented he always expected to end the day cold. Finally bought breathables. No going back. Has me thinking very seriously about it.
In between the general hunt and late buck. Think I'll fish tomorrow. Life is tough.
